Louisville, KY (March 23, 2023) – ASM Global is no stranger to producing and hosting major events. The world-leading venue management company owns and/or operates more than 320 venues across the globe, including seven venues in Louisville, Ky. The impact of ASM Global-managed venues—the KFC Yum! Center, Lynn Family Stadium and Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center is being felt beyond the local region as this weekend’s events bring tens of thousands of fans to Louisville and generate national exposure and millions of dollars for the city.

“Our ASM Global Louisville team is proud to be a part of the many events taking place this weekend at all of our venues,” said ASM Global General Manager Eric Granger. “We can’t give enough thanks to our venue partners, event organizers, ticket buyers and the entire Louisville community for their trust in our team.”

To kick off the jam-packed schedule of events, the KFC Yum! Center and University of Louisville will host the NCAA Men's Basketball Regional Championship and welcome more than 44,000 fans to the arena Friday, March 24 and Sunday, March 26. This is the third time the KFC Yum! Center has hosted the Sweet 16 since 2016 and its fifth men's NCAA championship basketball event since the arena opened its doors in 2010. The highly anticipated event bolsters the local economy with an estimated economic impact of $15 million.

Louisville City FC hosts its home opener vs El Paso FC on Saturday, March 25 at Lynn Family Stadium. LouCity returns a league-record 22 players from last year’s Eastern Conference title-winning squad in addition to new talents including midfielder Dylan Mares, who coincidentally played his last three seasons at El Paso. Fans can expect the contagious energy levels the stadium is known for in addition to new concession offerings, happy hour drink prices and numerous fan zone activations.

The Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center shifts its focus from hosting championship track meets the past several weekends to hosting a sold-out fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Kentuckiana on Saturday, March 25. This premiere fundraising gala – the Great Futures Sneaker Ball – features special guest speaker and Hall of Famer Deion "Coach Prime" Sanders. This event hopes to inspire attendees while raising money to support local Boys and Girl’s clubs through a silent and live auction.

On the same night that the NCAA Men’s Basketball Regional Championship is filling the KFC Yum! Center, Derby City Wrestling makes its debut at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center. On Sunday, March 26, the affordable, family event will feature some of the best local and regional talents along top tier stars from AEW, IMPACT! and New Japan Pro Wrestling. Veteran wrestling promoter, David Marquez is producing the event and Emmy Award winning broadcast journalist and WDRB News anchor/reporter Gilbert Corsey will serve as the voice of Derby City Wrestling.

“What all of these events bring to our community is remarkable,” said Louisville Sports Commission President & CEO Greg Fante. “The economic impact Louisville will realize and the variety of events available for fans to enjoy make this a special weekend. All of this is possible because of the world-class venues available for hosting these events. We’re proud to have such great partners as ASM Global, University of Louisville Athletics and Soccer Holdings working together to help make all of this happen.”

While ASM Global's Louisville venues generally host hundreds of events annually, this weekend is filled events where the impact expands far beyond the walls of the venues where they are hosted. With four regionally and nationally televised sporting events, millions of eyes will be on the city of Louisville.

Additionally, ASM Global provides operational management for the Kentucky Performing Arts venues. The local group of theatres offers an abundance of entertainment options this weekend with Peety at the MeX Theatre beginning March 23, Rodney Carrington on Friday, March 24 at Whitney Hall, the Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane beginning Saturday, March 25 at StageOne Family Theatre, and Louisville Orchestra’s Family Concert: Crossing Cultures on Sunday, March 26 at Old Forester’s Paristown Hall.
